A month back, an eleventh grader called me asking what career options she had. She aspired to be a news reader, and now with AI and bots taking over, she feels discouraged to try. Her family says her aspirations are redundant.
I spoke to her a little more. Wondered if her interest was in communication and media, or just reading the news. Did she have any other interests? She was very clear, she wanted to only read the news.
It is rigid interests and mindsets like these that will take your jobs. It may be AI, or any other technological or environmental disruption.
If you want to work and earn your living, you have to be flexible.
Think about it.
Be focused on expressing your talents. Careers will follow. And yes, if you are great with technology and coding, maybe your future is an AI career. But you have to be really good, because the lower end programming roles will also get automated.
Take care, the earth has enough for everyone's need! Quit validating yourself through the lens of others' greed! Learn to live sustainably.
